for Chinese teachers, part of the Confucius Institute at the University of

Pittsburgh (CI-Pitt), held on morning Feb. 4th at the University of Pittsburgh.

Chinese Director Dr. Ying Xiao, Graduate Student Assistant Haixia Wang, Hanban Chinese

Teacher Xiaoyan Yang and 14 Chinese volunteer teachers attended the program.

Chinese volunteer teachers reflected on their experience and

mistakes of the first semester, and discussed cases about differentiated instruction

and assessment and classroom management.

Dr. Ying Xiao made concluding remarks, wishing overseas

Chinese teachers to establish a clear identity, face the imperfections, and not

to put too much pressure on themselves. CI-Pitt has always been committed to

strengthening the management and development of volunteer teachers, and training

thoroughly of high-quality teachers. First-class faculty and teaching is also

the key to the long-term Chinese project at CI-PITT in the leading position of eastern

United States.

That night, Chinese New Year Gala of the Year of Rooster

organized by Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA) and CI-PITT also held

at Pitt, which made the theater hold nearly 1000 people. The opening film made

by students aroused homesickness of wanderers. Clarinet and violin told a story

ofmusic room next door.Performance

Chinese folk music, folk dance and calligraphy together. At last, lion dance

and different kinds of martial arts presented by Chinese and foreigners, won

the audience enthusiastic applause.The

three-hour gala brings laughter and excitement to the audience with exciting

song and dance pieces, fun interactive games and well-prepared gifts. Local citizens

and overseas Chinese celebrated the Year of Rooster at Pitt together!
